Faith Amidst Fear

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Fear is a universal emotion. No one is without fear, though it may take different forms for each person. Some fear losing loved ones; others dread certain situations; some are haunted by the past, while others worry about the future. However, fear itself is not a negative emotion. It is our response to it that determines whether it becomes constructive or destructive.

Our Lord, in His wisdom, has created us as emotional beings. He has given us the ability to feel and express the full spectrum of emotions – those we consider good, such as joy, love, and peace, and those we often struggle with, such as anger, sorrow, and fear. He perceives even the silent emotions hidden within us. The gift of emotional expression is what makes us human. In fact, God uses our emotions to build our character and make us stronger.

Today’s verse affirms that the Lord is aware of all our fears, both spoken and unspoken. He does not ask us to deny them, but invites us to lean on Him through them. God reminds us that we are His beloved children, created in His likeness. He has poured His Holy Spirit into us, who empowers us to overcome and conquer every fear.

Fear may be real, but an even greater truth stands firm – one that cannot be denied. In the presence of God, fear dissolves. For His presence is filled with love, and perfect love drives out every fear. Fear often springs from uncertainty, but with God, there is no uncertainty. He already holds your future in His hands. So, lay down all your fears at His feet and rest in His unfailing love.

Praise the Lord. An inspiring and encouraging meditation to overcome fear(uncertainty) by placing my fear of uncertainty into the hands of God. Proverbs 3:5.
