1 Chronicles 16:9

Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works!

Have you seen a toddler run to his mother after being apart even for a little while? At her sight, he immediately stops crying and joyfully embraces her. He knows he is back in her safe and caring hands. She provides for him and understands his needs. He celebrates because he has experienced the goodness of her hands. Her love is irreplaceable, and he has countless reasons to adore her.

When we read 1 Chronicles 16, David’s joy reflects that of this child as he brings back the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. The Ark represented the presence of God among His chosen people, and it was their identity. It was the center point of worship after being brought back to the chosen nation after many years. David offered sacrifices before God and appointed Levites to minister, celebrate, and praise the God of Israel. He publicly proclaimed the wonders of the God of Israel.

Today’s verse is part of a thanksgiving song to God for His love and faithfulness. The God who led, fought, and provided for the Israelites is still the same. When we faithfully seek Him, our God will instruct us, fight for us, care for us, and provide for us.

Today, as we celebrate the Lord’s Day, let praises overflow from our grateful hearts to the only One who laid down His life for us! Like David, let’s sing of the marvelous works of His Hands. We have a million reasons, both big and small, to praise our everlasting Saviour. So let our praises rise to Him. May everyone who hasn’t had a chance to witness the goodness of our Lord, hear of His wonders, come to Him, and experience for themselves.
