Joyful Worship

Psalm 100:2

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.

A thankful heart is a joyful heart. When we are in the presence of our loved ones, our natural response is happiness and joy. Similarly, the expression of intense joy through song becomes a beautiful offering as we meditate on what Jesus has done for us on the cross. He bore our sin, our shame, and our curse so that we could experience His blessings. When we see the heart of the Father, through Jesus Christ and the leading of the Holy Spirit, joy becomes our natural state.

It is an absolute honour and privilege to serve a mighty God. Honouring God is not meant to be a burden or a form of drudgery, but a delight. When we love someone, we don’t want to be separated from them. Loving God and honouring Him with a heart of gratitude, and giving thanks through songs and hymns, is a form of worship that welcomes the divine presence of God.

Singing is integral to worship. It expresses our thoughts and feelings about God. Colossians 3:16 instructs us to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Worship is not passive but an active engagement with God, declaring who He is and what He has done for us. God is good and gracious. He is merciful and kind, faithful and long-suffering. His compassion extends from one generation to another and endures for all eternity.

This call to worship is a call for every Christian to worship our Saviour in the beauty of His holiness, for we have been saved by grace through faith in Christ.
