Humbled Wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:21

“For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.”

It’s easy to assume that knowing God requires extraordinary intellect or profound wisdom. For centuries, scientists, philosophers, and spiritual teachers have attempted to define or explain the nature of God. Yet, all human efforts fall short because no amount of intellect can match the boundless wisdom and knowledge of our Creator.

God, in His divine wisdom, didn’t make salvation a puzzle for the brilliant or a prize for the elite. Instead, He offered it through what the world calls foolishness (1 Corinthians 1:18). Through His sufferings, humility, and journey to the cross, He conveyed a simple yet powerful message to all. Many have tried, without success, to unravel the mystery of the cross. They stood in awe of Christ’s divine wisdom, yet were equally astonished by His humble surrender to the will of the Father.

The cross silenced the so-called geniuses of the world, exposing the limits of human intellect. It revealed that God is not merely a concept to be debated or a feeling to be chased. He is a living, holy presence – the divine incarnate who cannot be grasped through wisdom alone, but known through faith and surrender.

Prayer: Lord, Your wisdom is far beyond my understanding, and Your ways are higher than mine. Help me to understand You through my heart and experience You through my life. Amen.
