You are what you are on the inside

Luke 6:45:  A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil; for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

What kind of a treasure have we treasured in our hearts?  The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.  If the heart is filled with God’s love, the mouth will speak it out to those who lack it.  If the heart is a heart that forgives, our mouth would not slander but instead speak words of forgiveness to those who have wronged us.  Which treasure is inside the heart?

Every tree is known by the fruit it bears.  In the same way, a person is known by the way he speaks and behaves in the world outside.  Let us treasure our heart with God’s word and the attributes of God.  Let our hearts always be filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  Let there be no evil or pride or jealousy or any kind of wickedness treasured in our hearts because the mouth always speaks what is inside the heart.  It just springs out, however, hard we try to hide our feelings or emotions.  Be filled with the Holy Spirit always so that your mouth will always speak what is pleasing to God.  Let us learn to love and forgive and respect.

Jesus was always very compassionate.  He dealt only with the devil authoritatively but loved people, even sinners.  He has set such a good example for us to follow.  What kind of fruits are we bearing on the outside?  How is the world grading us?  Let us do a cross check on ourselves.
