Proverbs 2: 6-15 —For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; 10 for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; 11 discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech, 13 who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, 14 who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, 15 men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.

When we were babies, we came into this world with a brain as clean as a slate. While growing up we were taught by our parents, family, caregivers, teachers, friends, etc, how to do things, manners, etiquette, how to talk, write, walk, eat…the list is endless. When we are born again into the kingdom of God, we are babies again in the spiritual world. We need to learn everything to grow up and mature into teenagers then adults, just like in the secular world.

How do we attain and mature in spiritual knowledge?
If we earnestly seek heavenly wisdom (counsel) from God, it will never be in vain. We will understand the ‘fear of the Lord’ (meaning our reverential and worshipful fear of God out of our love for Him) and find knowledge of our all-knowing God (meaning we will know how big and powerful our God is by way of what He chooses to reveal to us). The Lord will give us this wisdom of skill and godliness by way of this understanding and knowledge. If we depend on God, and seek Him for wisdom, the Lord gives us success. He guards and guides us in righteousness, when we are faithful,  because all that God does is righteous, just and fair. With this we will understand righteousness, justice, and fair dealing in every area and relation of our life; we will understand every good path. When we live by wisdom, then skillful wisdom and godly wisdom not only fills our head but enters into our heart along with understanding and will preserve us against inward corruption and outwardly temptations. We will attain knowledge in our souls and discretion as our conscience (insight as our priority). Understanding of the Word (what God wants of us) will keep us because God wants to guard our paths, lest we go astray. God is a personal bodyguard to the sincere. He keeps his eye on all who live honestly, and pays special attention to his loyally-committed ones. God keeps us from the ways of evil and from people who walk in the dark ways – liars, devious, crooks, wayward, evil etc. When we get wisdom, we will be careful to avoid all evil company and evil practices. Every wise man will shun such company.

John 6:27 reads, “Let them seek, and they shall find it; let them ask, and it shall be given them“. Who is ‘them‘ in verse 27? They are the righteous, on whom the image of God is renewed.
So, by being born again we are not called and chosen to be content with what we have, i.e. our new relationship with God. We need to build up our relationship with our God…grow closer to Him…grow in our spiritual life to build God’s kingdom on earth… have a successful life. For all of this; we need to have a foundation, a solution; we need to seek for God’s wisdom for our life.
