Ecclesiastes 2:26 – “For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge…”

The words “wisdom” and “knowledge” are often used interchangeably, but there is a subtle difference between them. According to the dictionary, wisdom is “the ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting.” On the other hand, knowledge is “information gained through experience, reasoning, or acquaintance.”

We might be able to expand our knowledge through determination and self-learning, but wisdom is purely a gift from God. In today’s verse we see that when we are good in God’s sight, He gives us both wisdom and knowledge. When we seek after God and yearn to please Him, He blesses us with the ability to understand complicated matters and make the right decisions.

If you want to grow spiritually, you need both wisdom and knowledge. You can gain knowledge by reading the Bible and learning more about God. But you also need the wisdom of the Holy Spirit for a deeper relationship with Him. Love the Lord wholeheartedly and seek to follow His ways; He will bless you with all the wisdom and knowledge you need to live a successful life that brings glory to His Name.
