Turning Thankfulness Into Action

Isaiah 58:11 – And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

God asks, “Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen?” In this verse we are called to:
• Divide our bread with the hungry
• Shelter the homeless
• Clothe the naked and not turn away

God revealed His concern for the hungry and the vulnerable in Isaiah 58:7, when He said, “share your food with the hungry.”

Indeed, God “fills the hungry with good things” (Psalm 107:9), and “gives food to the hungry” (Psalm 146:7). So we can know we are participating in a work that is close to the heart of God!
Share in the blessing of the Isaiah 58 fast:

v. 8: God’s glory will protect you
v. 9: The Lord will manifest His presence in your life
v. 10: Your gloom will lift, producing a better attitude toward life, and
v. 11: God will guide you and satisfy your needs, and you will have divine strength
