Luke 4:18 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised…”

In today’s verse, we see Jesus proclaiming the call of God on His life. He was absolutely sure of what He was supposed to do – preach the gospel, heal the brokenhearted, deliver the captives, give sight to the blind… It was this strong purpose that drove Jesus to accomplish so much in three short years of His ministry on earth.

Do you want to accomplish great things in your life? Then you must know your purpose too. God has granted you the gift of salvation and given you unique strengths and abilities. All you need to do is steward your talents well and use them for God’s glory. No matter what your skills are, there’s always something in God’s kingdom for you to do – encourage, serve, teach, listen, help…

There’s no doubt that God has called you and poured out His Spirit on you. He has anointed you to proclaim His Word and share His love with others around you. Feel unequipped to share the gospel? Well, the same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. God will help you reach out to others who need to experience His saving grace. Are you willing to be used by God?
