The Breath of God

Job 33:4 – “The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”

It’s the breath of God that brought the first man to life. And it’s the Lord who continues to sustain each of us in this generation. Job’s fourth friend, Elihu, understood this truth and tried to encourage Job with the same. Elihu was certain about his identity – that he was uniquely handcrafted by God, and it was the Almighty who breathed life into him.

When we acknowledge that it’s the Lord who’s given us life, we will live every day with purpose, trying our best to make our Maker proud. God hasn’t left us to fumble through life on our own accord. He’s blessed us with the presence of the Holy Spirit to guide, counsel, teach and lead us into a more fruitful life. Our duty is to remain rooted in Christ, so we can live abundant lives and bear much fruit for His glory.

Prayer: Father, forgive me if I’ve ever taken the life You’ve given me for granted. Thank You for breathing life into me and molding me into who I am today. I commit to living each day with a sense of divine purpose, seeking to do Your will in my life. Let Your Holy Spirit guide me into righteousness and truth, so I may bring glory to Your Name. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
