2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

A lot of us struggle with some degree of fear. We may be anxious about our loved ones, worried about the future or overwhelmed with a deep sense of foreboding that something bad may happen in our lives. This spirit of fear is not from God. In fact, God commands us not to fear; so when we give in to our fears, we’re sinning against God.

The Bible has dozens of scriptures that remind us not to fear, worry or be anxious. Instead, we are to take courage, trust God and keep moving forward. If you are fighting some kind of fear in your heart, today’s verse provides the antidote.

  • Remember, God is powerful enough to rescue you from your fears. Through Christ, you can lay claim to the power of God that can work wonders in any situation.
  • Have absolute faith in the love of God. He loves you much more than anyone else in this world possibly could. Trust that He will hold you in the palm of His hand and keep you from evil.
  • The Spirit of God has given you a sound mind. This enables you to exercise self-control, make the right decisions and live a disciplined life that aligns with God’s will for you.

Strengthen your mind with the Word of God and start fighting your fears with the sword of faith… you will be victorious through the power of the Most High!
