We, the temple of the Holy Spirit

I Corinthians 6:19:  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Our bodies belong to God.  He is the one who has the ownership over our bodies.  The Holy Ghost dwells in our bodies.  We cannot indulge our bodies in the pleasures of sin and lust.  We have to honour God with our bodies and in our bodies.  Basically, we do not own it, it belongs to God because of the Holy Spirit’s dwelling place.

Paul also has described in Romans 12:1 to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God.  Learn to honour God.  Temple is a sacred place, a holy and a revered place.  It is a place of worship.  It is supposed to be kept clean and free of dirt.  The Holy Spirit’s dwelling place is our body which is termed as a temple for Him to live.  We should be always aware that the Holy Spirit dwells in us and that we should never ever think of disobeying or dishonouring Him in any way.  What we see, what we hear, what we speak, how we behave, and what we do with ourselves should not grieve Him.  He should be willing and pleasing to continue to make our bodies His dwelling place.  Nobody would like to dwell in an unclean environment and so is God, the Holy Spirit.

When we try to respect the Person dwelling in us, He will bless us.  God says that He will honour those who honour Him.  Let us please God in whatever we do.  Be the person whom God wants you to be.
