Rest and wait upon God

Psalm 37:7: Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

There are times when things don’t work the way we want them to work. We feel discouraged and lose our hope in God.  When we don’t get what we had hoped and prayed for, we stop loving God.  We tend to stop doing the things that we once did with zeal and vigor for the Lord.  We draw away from God and refuse to trust His guidance over our lives.  The scriptures tell us to just rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

There are genuine times when we sincerely fast and pray for certain things, but it is always somebody whom we don’t like or people who want to cause us harm that get blessed. Godless people end up having more joy and power than us sometimes.  God says don’t worry about them or their success.  God just wants us to rest in Him.  He just wants us to lay our burdens on Him and give Him all worries and disappointments.  He knows what we go through.  Don’t be worried about the wicked ones who do well or are successful because when God lifts you up, you will never be down.

It is better to wait for God to act over our needs. God’s timing is the best that we can have for ourselves.  Abraham waited until he was almost 100 years for the promised Isaac.  He never gave up waiting for the promise of God upon his life.  He rested in God, trusted Him, waited patiently for his promised son.  His waiting and patience and trust in the Lord paid off well.  Just have faith in Him and rest in Him.
