Never Stop Growing

Luke 2:40 – “And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.”

The Bible says very little about Jesus during the years between His birth and His public ministry. There is only the instance of Jesus being found in the temple as a young boy, learning from the teachers and leaders. But if we had to sum up the first 30 years of Jesus’ life on the earth, the verse above would be a great fit.

Jesus grew in wisdom and strength, and the favor of God was upon Him. If we seek to be disciples of Jesus, we too must follow His example and strive to grow constantly. While we may stop growing physically at a certain age, we must never stop growing emotionally and spiritually.

The same Spirit that was in Jesus then, is with us now. The Holy Spirit who dwells in us, yearns to teach us, that we may grow in the grace and knowledge of God. In the coming year, choose to open your mind, study God’s Word, spend more time in His presence, and draw closer to God than ever before. God will fill you with wisdom to make the right choices in your life, and strength to persevere and achieve great things for His glory.
