God’s steadfast love

Psalm 94:18 – “When I thought, ‘My foot slips,’ your steadfast love, O LORD, held me up.”

Many of us were first drawn to Jesus because of His unconditional love for us. We were in awe of a holy God, who sacrificed His only son to save our sin-stained souls. We felt His love in tangible ways – a prayer for healing answered, broken relationships restored, confusing questioned answered with clarity… We experienced God’s love on a day to day basis, as He heard our prayers and answered them miraculously.

But somewhere along the way, we begin complicating our relationship with Jesus. We over-think things. We wonder if God is actually interested in our petty problems. We question the authenticity of our faith. We wonder why our prayers are taking so long to get answered. We search our hearts and rack our minds to see if we’ve displeased God in any way.

Yes, healthy introspection based on biblical truth is important for believers. But we must never forget the most important thing – Jesus loves us. He loved us when we were sinners, He loves us now as His children, and He will continue to love us for eternity. God never changes, and His love for us is steadfast. The next time you feel your faith is slipping, remind yourself that Jesus loves you. He genuinely cares about your life. He is a faithful friend, a caring elder brother, and a loving father.

Yes, Jesus loves you! Rest in His love today!
