God our Strength

Psalm 73:26 – “My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”

We all derive our strength from different sources. We share our difficulties with friends and find comfort in their encouraging words. We depend on our educational qualifications and experience to progress in our careers. We rely on our knowledge and intuition to make the right decisions in our lives.

But the truth is, our friends won’t always be there for us. We can make the right decisions and still find ourselves in a mess. Our qualifications may not be sufficient to enhance our careers. There is only one source of strength that never fails – the Lord our God. The Psalmist understood this truth and proclaims it in the verse above.

There’s only so much we can do in our lives with our own wisdom and strength. If we truly want to live the abundant life God promised, we must learn to depend on Him alone. To tap into God’s strength, we must first admit that we are not enough. It’s God’s power that works in us to help us accomplish His purposes. When we take ourselves out of the equation, we also ensure that God alone gets all the glory.

Prayer: Lord, I know I can’t do this on my own. I trust that You will strengthen me and equip me for the task ahead. May Your Name alone be glorified. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
