Everlasting covenant

Jeremiah 32:40:  And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

God wants to make an everlasting covenant with His people.  He had turned the Israelites away from their country because of their sins and wrongdoings.  God thought the only way for them to stay tuned to Him was to put His fear in their hearts.

The scriptures remind us that His anger lasts only for a moment, but His favour lasts for a lifetime.  Even though we think that He has forgotten us, it is only for a moment.  He wishes to make an everlasting covenant with us. When God decides to make a covenant with us, it is not based on some kind of a trial and error method.  When He promises something, He keeps it.  He fulfills it.  He wants to make a covenant in such a way that He will do good to His people.  He has promised that He will not turn away from His people.  He is ensuring that He will never forsake His very own.

God has promised that He will not turn away from His people.  He wants the same thing from us too.  We have to have the reverential fear and respect that is due Him in order for us to obtain His grace and blessings upon our life. Stay committed to God for Him to stay faithful in His promise and His covenant with you.
