Change changes; the constant is Jesus

Hebrews 13:8–“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

Today, change is happening everywhere in all aspects of our lives. Climate, food, clothing styles, places, relationships, information, access to things, even diseases are mutating. Everywhere we look things keep changing and this means we also have to adjust our ways of thinking, behaving, and dealing with the change constantly. This change can cause more stress and learning, which again leads to more stress in trying to keep up with the change.

In the Bible, two thousand years ago or maybe many years before that even, we see change. (Gen 31:41) Jacob worked for Laban to marry his daughters and was cheated by him. So he told Laban “It was like this for the twenty years I was in your household. I worked for you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks, and you changed my wages ten times.” There are many other instances of change in the Bible also, so it is nothing new to our age or times.

How do we deal with this constant change? How do we keep up with this stress?
Jesus is the answer to all of the above. Through Jesus we can do all things (I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Philippians 4:13). Our constant relationship with Jesus helps us prepare for the problems and changes of tomorrow. With Jesus in our life we can overcome our shortcomings and we can go to Him with our problems for refuge. Why do we know this? Because it is in the Bible. Hebrews mentions that Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If He came to die on the cross for us yesterday, be assured that He still loves us as much today and therefore is still there for us today. And in the same way, He will be with us and for us for all our tomorrows. Christ Jesus is our Lord. He is above all changes. He wills changes to give us chances to change from the bad choices or disobedience that we have going in our lives. He is looking out for us. We only need to continue to believe and obey. Forever He is faithful, forever He is strong, forever He is with us, Forever and ever!!
