Deuteronomy 28:2—”And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.”

As children of the most high we are privy to privileges i.e. Promises of God. In the Bible, Deuteronomy 2 tells us what we can expect. We can have blessings or curses based on our works. God’s character is this: most merciful, slow to anger and He delights in blessing us. Our relationship with God must be: draw to Him with the hope of favor(blessings) rather than deal with Him in fear of His wrath(curses).

This promise of blessings comes with one condition – that we must earnestly listen to the Voice of God. How do we listen to the Voice of God? God is always waiting to speak to us through His Holy Spirit who is in us, if we allow Him in. When we earnestly seek Him (through reading His Word daily and talking to Him in truth) He is with us, beside us, guiding every step of our life. For this, in every area of our life, we must depend on Him entirely and not on ourselves – our thoughts or our ideas. Then, we will be aligned with the Word. There you go, that just qualified us for God’s promise!!

What is the promise? God will give blessings ‘that spread out beyond you’. The blessing will be more than enough for us. It will spill from us to: our city, the country, our children, our land, our livestock, the calves of our herds, the lambs of our flocks, our basket and bread bowl; our coming in and our going out!! That is a whole lot of blessing for one small thing on our part – obedience.
Father God, we thank you for Your promise of blessings. Please keep us mindful of our life according to Your Word. Holy Spirit please be our guide. In Jesus name we ask, Amen.
