Accept Discipline

Revelation 3:19 – “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.”

Discipline is never pleasant. Kids don’t like to be punished for bad behaviour, neither do we adults enjoy being chided for mistakes we’ve made. To err is human, they say. And yes, nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes. But the true measure of our maturity lies in how we respond to discipline and criticism.

A father would never try to discipline his colleague’s child. Parents discipline their own kids because they love them, and want to see them live up to their potential. God deals with us the same way. He loves us too much to let us remain as we are. If we allow Him, He will smoothen our rough edges and make us much better than we were before.

Let God have His way in your life. If He’s instructing you through the Bible, a pastor or a leader, don’t turn away. Accept God’s discipline, heed His warnings and make a positive change. Soon, you will see your rough edges being chipped away, and your attitude and behaviour will start reflecting the glory of your God.
